The spring 2021 exhibition Images of Women –
Works from the Heino Art Foundation Collection at the Kimmo Pyykkö Art Museum shows
works by female artists as well as female motifs by male artists. The
exhibition features works - photographs, drawings, paintings and sculptures -
by 33 artists.
The Heino Art Foundation collection of contemporary art was built up by Raimo
and Raini Heino and their son, the gallerist Rauli Heino, and it is one of the
foremost collections of its kind in Finland. The collection currently includes
1,416 works dating from the 1950s to the present day. All of the works in the
collection have been selected by the Heinos themselves, based on their own
preferences. Recent years have seen a number of different themed exhibitions
from the collection have been on show in different museums. Individual works
from the collection are also continuously on loan for various exhibitions.
The exhibition is curated by Soila Kaipiainen and jointly produced by the Kimmo Pyykkö Art Museum and the Heino Art Foundation.
